This seminar will bring to light the conversation of mental health, post traumatic stress, and building resiliency for those in the public safety professions. In this session participants will define mental health conditions such as post traumatic stress, anxiety, and depression and will identify the signs and symptoms to recognize these conditions both within themselves and with others, and will discuss available resources to seek help, and learn tactics and tools to increase mindfulness and resilience.

In this seminar, we dive deep with Rick Bucher, a man whose life narrative reads like an adrenaline-packed novel. From daring adventures as a sports athlete to serving the community of Scottsdale with over 16,000 calls, Rick has witnessed the extremities of life. But it's not just his encounters with external dangers that make his story remarkable; it's the internal battles he's faced and conquered that truly inspire. From the precipice of despair following near-death experiences and grappling with PTSD, to the exhilarating highs of reuniting with his biological family, Rick's journey encapsulates the triumph of the human spirit over adversity. Today, he's on a mission to light up the path for others, especially those in public safety, to acknowledge their mental battles and seek help. Join us as we explore the interplay of hope, resilience, and unity in Rick's extraordinary tale of redemption.

Meet The Presenter

BucherRick Bucher had a normal enough childhood, but his life has been extraordinary since.  An adventure sports athlete, racer, and instructor, Rick served as a firefighter/paramedic in Scottsdale, Arizona for 27 years.  After narrowly surviving a rock climbing accident, motorcycle wreck and a suicide attempt, he went on to receive treatment for PTSD and is now working to increase awareness of mental health issues in the public safety arena.  He also went on to find his biological family after decades of unanswered questions about who he was and where he came from.  Eliminating the stigma of stepping forward for help and providing support for those who do is his new passion and he tours the country following opportunities to share his story, speaking to groups and spreading a message of hope, resilience and unity in the face of trauma.  His story is a remarkable tale of redemption and a reminder of the power of the human spirit.
